Professional Skills and Industry Practice
This module is responsible for introducing fundamental skills needed in order to engage with higher education, as well as professional skills for employment. It covers referencing, writing structure, writing to an academic standard, and maintaining self-imposed tasks, i.e. journaling.
Assignment 1
Assignment 1 aimed to put the professional and academic skills introduced to us into a report concerning software development.
This was one of the first assignments and was our introduction to writing to an academic standard, although it focused on the content delivered relating to the software development module – its key focus was structuring a report. I was able to apply my knowledge by properly referencing in the Harvard style, with a variety of sources consisting of books and academic journals. Along with this further research has been displayed by making use of comparisons to real-life case studies. This assignment was instrumental to giving me the foundation to write academic papers for further assignments and have set me up for my tenure in further education.
Assignment 2
This second assignment, the website you are viewing now, is to create an online professional portfolio not only show casing our work – but the skills developed to complete them. A long-term development journal documenting the content I have learned, and goals set to improve. A CV (Curriculum Vitae) show casing educational and employment history, along with our unique skills and achievements.
